Location: Reston VA & Urbana MD
Rate: Market
No Of position : 3 *( 2 will work in Reston, VA and 1 will
be in Urbana, MD. The hours of operation per contractor is as follows: 1
contractor in Urbana, MD from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The
2 contractors in Reston, VA are as follows: 1 contractor from 3:00 pm to
11:00 pm Monday through Friday; 1 contractor from 11:00 pm to 9:00 am
Wednesday through Saturday night.)*
Minimum of Eight years of system administration experience in a UNIX
production business environment with substantial knowledge of the UNIX
operating system.
· Strong knowledge in the following areas :
· Solaris 10
· Solaris 10 containers
· Veritas Volume Manager
· Veritas Filesystem
· Veritas Cluster (VCS)
· Good knowledge on Linux OS (SuSe Linux)
· Good knowledge on SAN
*Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or
equivalent degree and/or experience *
The system administrator will work on Sun hardware (e.g., V480, V490, V4800,
V4900, V6800 and V6900 models). Hardware knowledge on the different types of
components of servers is preferred. Will configure and support multiple
domains on SunFire midrange servers, and must be familiar with Sun
Microsystems methods of dynamically reconfiguring boards and components on
these servers.
Run UNIX commands from UNIX shells, be able to operate in csh or ksh
environment, review or write shell scripts and understand general shell
scripting practices. Must have knowledge of programming or writing shell
scripts in languages such as Korn Shell, Bourne Shell, or Perl.
Set up network interfaces on servers, trouble shoot, and resolve network
issues related to the servers. Must understand basic networking items such
as Ethernet, ARP, and TCP/IP.
In their normal duties the system administrator will be called on to perform
the following customer service functions: setting customer expectations and
working with customers to achieve best results; demonstrate cooperative
teaming skills to achieve results that cannot be derived from the system
administrator’s actions alone; and the ability to collaborate within a cross
functional team
