Job Title: Oracle Applications DBA for Banner 8

Characteristic Duties
(Technical)
Responsible for and performs Banner patch management, including monitoring
My Oracle Support for database patches and new features and the SunGard
Support Center website regularly. Applies needed Banner Apps and database
level patches.
Supports RMAN backups and transaction log strategy & management, disaster
recovery planning using Oracles Data Guard.
Monitors all Banner instances. Does SLA monitoring (especially in regards
to performance). Includes monitoring daily logs for error messages.
Monitors performance and executes performance tuning, in particular,
balancing application needs on shared platforms.
Develops project estimates and project schedules and submits project status
reports and metrics.
Responsible, in cooperation with server administrators, for the overall
uptime of the system, ensuring that each system is accessible to end-users
as is documented in its SLA.
Manages O/S patches and performance issues on the db servers, in cooperation
with server administration team.
Maintains application level capacity planning (i.e. disk, Load factors and
storage requirements).
Manages migration into production. Includes data, applications and entire
systems. Adheres to department Change management policies.
Manages patch, training, test, development instances on various servers.
Troubleshoots production problems related to the Banner environment.
Performs related technical duties as assigned.
(Administrative)
Provides necessary technical support, training, guidance and consultation
for IT staff.
Write all necessary system, user and operations documentation.
Works closely with other IT groups to coordinate hardware and operating
system requirements (including storage management) with DB needs, including
optimizing and tuning the Linux operating system parameters for the Banner
application and its Oracle database.
This position requires on-call duties after hours on a regular basis from a
problem-solving perspective as well as installing new systems or upgrades
during off-hours, so as to minimize the impact on end-users use of their
systems. This includes texting to cell phones by monitoring and alerting
systems.
Clones instances and codes backups and restores with RMAN.
Works closely with the Data Warehousing Analyst (ODS, EDW, Cognos).
Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Experience: Required
Banner 8 Administration experience Two to three years
Oracle 10g/11g DBA experience Two Years
Oracle Application Server experience, support, maint Two
Years
Unix / Linux shell scripting or similar (Perl, awk, sed)
Three years
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking environment
Two years
Preferred
Luminis Portal experience (One year)
PL/SQL Experience. Knowledge of Web concepts and some HTML,
Data Warehousing, Veritas, SAN (EMC), OEM.
