Facilitates user departments and vendors to define the interface requirements, install software, test interfaces, develop procedures and support go-live. Develops and programs the actual interfaces to/from relational and other databases. Works with applications and operations to develop appropriate procedures to monitor the interfaces and ensure optimum system performance. 2. Develops and monitors testing methodologies and plans designed to demonstrate transaction effectiveness. Responsible for updating interface specification documentation, and participates in completing technical documentation, conversion plans and operations training procedures for MISD staff. 3. Responsible for developing and implementing the system integration components of all project plans. Estimates time required to complete each project step and confers with application owner and vendors to gain their time commitment and acceptance of the plan. Works closely with other staff, director and vendors to verify requirements and finalize the scope of approved projects. 4. Understands and adheres to standards and guidelines set by program, various Mercy councils or the healthcare and communications industries. Utilizes a working knowledge existing protocols (i.e., asynchronous, TCP/IP) and standards (i.e., HL7, EDI, X12) when completing integration projects. Educates others (including vendors) about both Mercy and industry standards as needed. 5. Works with other staff to seek improvements that will enhance information systems and promote more efficient, cost effective services. 6. Maintains interfaces and evaluates for simple to complex system upgrades and performance audits. 7. Collaborates with business analysts to identify and/or confirm integration requirements. Works closely with all analysts to obtain optimum solutions for the customers. 8. Prepares and recommends technical resource requirements needed to successfully deliver and support assigned projects. 9. Meets with team regularly for status reporting and information sharing as appropriate. 10. Supports an environment of customer focused service and internal accountability. 11. Trains and mentors junior team members on specific projects or in specific job areas. 12. Serves as a member of a project team, completing any functional tasks to support the goals and completion of the project. Will serve as project leader where appropriate, coordinating resources and tasks to successfully implement the project, and providing updates to management on project progress. * * *REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: * Reports to the Director - Enterprise Information & Integration. No direct reports. Internally interacts with all Genesis Project and Mercy staff and management. Externally interacts with software and hardware vendors to implement and support the systems and aid in problem resolution. *QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (minimum needed to begin in the job):* 1. Bachelor degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. 2. Three years experience in designing, maintaining and data reformatting techniques and utilizing integration engines within the healthcare setting. 3. Experience with the following: Microsoft products, SQL, UNIX, TCP/IP, C programming language, integration engines, data transfer standards (i.e., HL7, EDI, X12 etc.), data communications, interfaces and routing. 4. Must have the ability to travel throughout the Mercy Information System facilities to consult with appropriate management and staff. 5. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. 6. Ability to lead simple to moderately complex project efforts, coordinating project resources, tasks, and timeframes. *PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:* 1. Integration experience with Cerner, McKesson STAR and/or Lawson preferred.
