Location: Pittsburgh, PA Duration: 9 months * * Description = As an SAP Business Intelligence Developer, the consultant will be responsible for the analysis, design, and development of the Business Intelligence environment and database structures for a large-scale SAP Data Warehouse. > > This position will be performing analysis, building, and implementing various programs, procedures and processes in an SAP BI environment. Candidate should have a solid background in both the BI presentation (front-end) and the back-end of the SAP BI tool suite. This project will leverage enabling BI technologies to develop a Business Performance Management framework. The successful candidate will have previous experience in designing solutions for SAP Business Intelligence, analytical and report development staffs. Candidates must demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and commitment and must be a self-starter who is motivated to develop a partnership with executives, business users, and various levels of management. Ideal candidate is capable of gaining recognition as an advocate and business champion for various business interests. > > > PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES - > > . Work with business teams to analyze and translate business requirements and functional specifications into technical specifications. > . Work with various business users and technical analysts to complete database designs, data models, data flow diagrams, extractors, reports performance monitoring/tuning and testing. > . Deliver high level of client service through responsiveness and accuracy. > . Collaborate directly with Business Users and various Technical Teams in order to enhance the SAP BI/BW Enterprise Data Warehouse data and report capabilities. > . Perform and coordinate appropriate activities with various Technical Leads on other teams such as Unix Admin, Database Admin, Basis Admin and SAP ECC Application Development teams. > . Deliver the BI work products such as: SAP data solutions, data mapping and design, data load procedures, conduct product reviews, work closely with the Business to ascertain requirements, creation of InfoCubes and Queries, etc. > . Participate in the creation of BI/BW development standards while adhering to Department policies, methodologies, standards and guidelines. > . Define, gather and load source data from multiple businesses and systems. > . Understand business rules governing the supplied data and its implications as the data is consolidated with other businesses'. > . Consolidate multiple data sources into SAP BI using BI extractors. > . Report consolidated and non-consolidated data to a variety of requestors with disparate requirements using BEx Analyzer, Web Application Designer, Business Objects and other viable reporting methods. > . Identify and recommend whether reports should source from R/3 or BW and the strategy for delivering the reports (daily, weekly monthly, Portal, e-Mail, Blackberry devices). > . Utilizes communication skills necessary to effectively coordinate with others to assure user requirements are met and development occurs according to design. > . Approaches issues from multiple perspectives and collaborates in generating creative, effective and practical solutions. > . Possess excellent creative, analytical and conceptual skills. > . Focus on application stability, continuous improvement, and professional service to business unit stakeholders. > . Write clear, concise technical documentation to accompany all application development. > . Maintain appropriate documentation to reflect application uses and custom or configuration changes within compliance. > . Work with other IT Services staff members to ensure cross-training and provide back-up support. > . Ensure compliance with all change management procedures. > . Prepares detailed specifications for programs of moderate to difficult complexity, from which programs can be written, designed, coded, tested, debugged, and document programs. Prepares development time estimates for assigned tasks and is responsible for meeting those estimates. Updates or creates technical and user documentation. > . Creates test data to execute all functions of the coded programs. Executes program testing and is responsible for its accuracy and effectiveness. > . Proactively identify issues, problems, and innovative ideas to optimize the operation of the SAP BI application. > . Performs traces and debugs transformations (transfer rules and update rules) using SAP delivered rules/transformations or custom ABAP routines. > . Develops and maintains technical efficiency in hardware/software and productivity tools and applies this knowledge to assignments. > . Ensure optimization of SAP technical performance in the infrastructure environment, including network, database, and application server performance. > . Work on multiple project requests simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines. > . Ensure service levels are met, and project objectives are accomplished within budget and deadline. > > KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/COMPENTENCIES- > > Education: > . Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration or Science with a concentration in Computer Science or related disciplines > > Experience/Competencies: > . 4-7 years of progressively responsible experience in systems analysis, IS, or functional support of IS. > . 5+ years SAP BI or SAP BW experience. > . 2 or more full lifecycle SAP implementations. > . Experience with at least two of the following R/3 functional modules: SD, FI/CO, MM, COPA, CCA, PCA. > . Experience with Netweaver 2004s, the BI 7.0 toolset, BI Accelerator (BIA) and SAP Portal, Enterprise or BI. > . Experience with customization to BW and BW Business Content or developing custom Business Content. > . Experience with BW Front End (BEx Analyzer) and/or Web reporting, and Crystal Reports. > . Experience with Global implementations/deployments or multiple-R/3-instances to BW a plus. > . Experience with the most current release of SAP BW/BI, Business Objects and SAP Enterprise Performance Management. > . Ability to work effectively with the business to define their BI needs. > . Ability to learn and master new business intelligence technologies and products. > . Strong analytical and problem solving skills. > . Solid project management and organizational skills are required to consistently meet project deadlines. > . Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks. > . Ability to lead small team of technical resources, teach and train others, build consensus and solve problems. > . At least 2 Full Life Cycle Implementations of SAP BW including Data Modeling, Extractions, Data Staging, Loadings, Transformations, and Reporting. > . Knowledge of SAP BI content for the Consumer Packaged Goods industry. > . Extensive knowledge of standard and custom InfoCubes, InfoObject and InfoSources, Web reporting, Extraction, Transfer Structures, Operational Data Store (ODS), and Business Explorer (BEx). > . Experience with other Business Intelligence software (Cognos, Business Objects, etc.) applications. > . Solid experience with EIS, dashboards, OLAP, scorecards, visualization tools, and portals. > . Experience in extracting data from SAP R/3 using LIS/LO Cockpit, Generic Extraction, OLTP extraction, data loading (Initial / Delta Up-Loads), and also extracting data from the flat files. > . Experience in extracting data from SAP CRM, SRM and SCM. > . Experience with SAP Easy Enhancement Workbench > . Experience with performance tuning of queries using compression, aggregation and partitioning etc. and performance tuning of system to improve data load and system response time. > . Solid understanding of all facets of Data Warehousing concepts including data acquisition, transformation, loading, data modeling, query definition, web application designer, report designer and performance tuning. > . Experience with SAP's ASAP project methodology and/or Solution Manager. > . Web application development and support experience an asset. > . Ability to work successfully in both a team environment including a matrix organization and independently. > . Strong team player with effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, and able to deal with many different levels of technical and business acumen. > . Effective communication and client relation skills. > .
