UNIX/LINUX Administrator 3Months Contract to hire
Mountain view CA As a systems engineer one will be responsible for building innovative and highly automated solutions that include rapid provisioning of both physical and virtualized environments. The right candidate will have a passion for excellence, an eye for detail, a knack for problem-solving. Team members will interact directly with developers leveraging strong communication skills as they capture technical requirements and resolve complex technical issues. Team members will also work across the Intuit IT organization (IIT) to leverage expertise and corporate processes to ensure the ability to scale deployed solutions and leverage best practices. Team members will have opportunities to work with a wide range of cutting-edge software and hardware technologies. TECHNICAL / FUNCTIONAL SKILLS . Engineering experience with deploying, configuring and troubleshooting Solaris 10 operating system and virtualized zones . Experience deploying and configuring Solaris 10 zones in a clustered environment . Engineering and experience deploying Red Hat Enterprise Linux . Experience configuring and troubleshooting RHEL servers on virtualized platforms and hypervisor . Experience preparing Solaris hosts to support Oracle databases and applications . Solid understanding of networking technologies and troubleshooting . Solid understanding of storage networking and technologies, NetApp and EMC a plus . Demonstrable experience influencing business requirements that drive technical solutions, using sound business acumen and technical expertise . Experience identifying and driving the adoption of best practices and emerging standards . Excellent technical documentation skills and willingness to perform knowledge transfers . Effectively communicates these to architects, their peers and within their Technical Track . Highly quality orientation and customer focus. Ability to influence and drive appropriate levels of quality on technical solutions for complex problems and processes . BS in Communications Engineering, Math, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience Primary Responsibilities: . Assist in implementing newly architected designs in a new datacenter . Installation and configuration task at OS and App layer. . Assist with post OS baseline custom configurations specific for the applications . Coordinate implementation, maintenance, and other basic operational tasks . Participate in the operational design and architecture of solutions . Monitor and detect application and performance issues . Work with department teams to ensure smooth business systems operations . Able to work without supervision .
