*Location: San Jose, CA* *Duration: 3-6 Months* * * *Description* You will be leading a small team and collaborating closely with stakeholders in Development, QA, and Software Integration to plan the overall SCM and build/release process for web-based consumer products. This role supports an internal software team and external distributed development teams. Effectively planning and assigning work as well as taking on hands on responsibilities as part of a small build/release team will be critical. Maintaining the integrity and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the build system such that the rest of the team is satisfied with our releases will be your metrics for success. - Define software requirements and functional specifications for a build and release system and confirm design with key stakeholders across engineering organization - Coordinate efforts across Engineering groups to achieve agreement on direction and priorities for SCM/Build requirements - Integrate tools for continuous integration (CruiseControl) and release management, including branch support - Learn the existing system, including helping document the system for use by yourself and other people with basic experience in Build/SCM - Develop and maintain the build and release system - Take on tasks that support the reliability and efficiency of the build for a team of engineers spanning client and server development and QA *Required Skills and Experiences* - Ability to self-manage, lead a small team, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to produce aggressive, achievable plans for Build/Release and SCM - At least 5 years professional experience in software engineering, release engineering, and configuration management in an embedded Linux environment - Expertise with Make and scripting - Deep understanding of best of breed tools for building the Linux kernel - Hands on experience with OpenEmbedded software framework - Experience applying and building a broad range of open source software - Proven track record supporting an environment that incorporates continuous integration - Strong familiarity with software configuration management systems and source code version control systems.
