*Location: San Jose, CA* * * *Description* Seeking an experienced and creative Sr Embedded Software Engineer to develop world-class, high volume consumer electronic products for the web-connected environment. You will play a leading role in analyzing, tuning, and debugging platform and application components, taking a lead role in the integration process. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in software development for consumer electronic devices. Define and implement a system for characterizing application resources (memory, performance) based on underlying platform tools and best of breed tools, both for system evaluation and for runtime use to optimize performance and prevent any system crashes on the shipping product. Serve as "go to" person for individual engineers to ensure that they are able to address integration issues on their components effectively through a software framework that you help define and implement with minimal additional effort for each individual engineer. Work closely with the Build/Release and QA teams to streamline the process for reliable releases of the overall software suite, identifying approaches that will effectively scale across the team. *Required Skills and Experiences*** 1. 5+ years of experience developing complex embedded software in C/C++, including power, performance, and memory/footprint optimizations 2. BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience 3. Strong debugging capabilities in real-time and embedded systems 4. Understand all aspects embedded system SW - Compiler, Memory, IO, Emulators 5. Significant, current hands on experience with development on Linux platforms, tool chains, and associated libraries 6. Experience applying and building a broad range of open source software 7. Demonstrated creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills 8. Strong desire to work in a dynamic team environment, including embracing opportunity to closely collaborate with and coordinate efforts between engineers across software functions 9. Strong desire to get "outside of the box" and explore solutions from a variety of perspectives and make appropriate technical tradeoffs. 10. Must work quickly, creatively & decisively, delivering designs to suit product / project requirements *Desired Skills and Experiences*** 1. Experience with platform bringup 2. Experience with networking technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G. 3. Experience in shipping software on mobile or handheld consumer electronic devices 4. ARM assembly 5. Experience with JTAG debugging 6. Solid development experience with Make and scripting 7. Strong familiarity with software configuration management systems and source code version control systems. Perforce experience highly desired 8. Familiarity with commercial bug tracking systems such as Jira 9.
