Job Description for review
DB2 DBA will be involved in the development, maintenance and support of the
client's database environment, throughout software development life cycle.
The DBA will participate in the design and implementation of logical and
physical database objects for financial institutions CRM/ERP system,
including Touch Point/Xpress. Will provide guidance to developers on their
data access, and data mapping needs, Will work with systems administration
on hardware and operating system level requirements in support of the
deployed database software, and will propose ways to improve physical
database and SQL performance.
Key responsibilities/qualifications:
* Perform day-to-day DB2 administrative tasks like Monitor DB2
processes and logs for any anomalies, provide corrective actions.
* Work closely with the AIX Administration team to install DB2, apply
latest fix packs.
* Create databases, and perform database upgrades.
* Conduct capacity planning and projection for client project.
* Provide space requirements to the AIX administrators for creating
table spaces.
* Maintain DB2 Variable values (registry values, environment values,
configuration parameters.
* Define schemas, users and security policies.
* Assist with SQL scripts needed for design and development of DB2
applications (table spaces, files, privileges, create internal database
structures: tables, views, triggers, procedure, and table constraints.),
create and maintain shell scripts to automate tasks as needed.
* Perform DB2 tuning, including optimizing complex SQL statements, for
best possible performance.
* Provide assistance to developers for resolving technical DB2 issues.
* Interface with business analysts & developers with regards to
application, logical & physical database design, create and maintain logical
entity relationship diagrams, transform logical models into physical data
models using Erwin data modeler.
* Good interpersonal and written skills.
* A team player with the ability to work in a demanding environment
Good knowledge of other RDBMS is a plus.
