Title: Core Java Developer with B2C e-commerce
Location: San Francisco,CA.
Term: 12+ Months

Note: We need candidates who have worked for high volume B2C e-commerce
companies and/or infrastructure software companies.

Job Description:

   - Drive the adoption of enterprise-wide messaging frameworks, distributed
   object stores, distributed caching and session replication for high
   availability via participation in build versus buy decisions, framework
   evaluation and home-grown implementations or implementations on chosen
   frameworks
   - Participate in exercises with internet operations with regard to
   capacity planning for holiday-peaks, availability analysis and corresponding
   risk-mitigation strategies
   - Design data abstraction layers that insulate the application developers
   from the specifics of the persistence technology (e.g. RDBMS, no-SQL DBs,
   object and other stores)
   - Design, implement and acquire other key pieces of infrastructure that
   deal with connection pooling, logging frameworks, thread pooling, dead code
   analysis and prevention and utilities that provide re-use, promote
   maintainability of a large code-base and catalyze development efforts at
   large
   - Design and enhance new/existing media editing and rendering algorithms
   - example dither, red-eye/opacity correction, cropping, image-rotation,
   white-balance etc.
   - Design, enhance and maintain certain key components application that
   are bandwidth and storage intensive – i.e. upload and imaging rendering
   capabilities that I/O against the image (and blob) repository, which is
   currently at several 100 peda-bytes
   - Trouble-shoot production cluster issues that may require garbage
   collection analysis and tuning, contention/concurrency analysis and tuning
   and various other bottleneck analysis and tuning

*Key Skills and Experience:*

   - Minimum 7 years experience developing open-source or commercial
   infrastructure software and/or applications

*REQUIRED:*

   - Hands-on participation in leading design and development of highly
   scalable B2C websites or infrastructure software and data abstraction
   frameworks
   - Strong understanding of Java concurrency, multi-threaded programming
   and java.util.concurrent.* package.  Strong understanding of Java
   collections framework and experience with scalable data-structures and
   associated algorithms including sorting, hashing, data partitioning/sharding
   etc.
   - Demonstrated knowledge and experience with data abstraction strategies,
   technologies, and standards such as JDO, JPA, ORM (Hibernate, Morphia) etc.
    Experience with one or some of the following;  Protocol Buffers, Thrift,
   JSON, BSON, binary XML, etc. and experience with remoting APIs such as REST,
   SOAP

*DESIRABLE:*

   - Knowledge of image processing technologies, frameworks and techniques
   (Apache Batik, Adobe InDesign and general computer imaging concepts)
   - .NET experience
   - JVM internals as they relate to performance tuning
   - “Practical” usage of OSGI.
   - Working knowledge of Spring (MVC, Modules, Batch, DI etc.)
   - Frameworks for managing large data-sets (such as Hadoop)
   - Other non-Java programming languages (such as Scala, Clojure, JRuby
   etc.)
   - Development in Public Cloud (AWS) and Private Cloud Environments
   - Domain experience with B2C e-commerce development, especially those
   dealing with media (images, video etc.)
