Required Skills: Client is looking for a highly motivated individual to join the IT team as a Backup Administrator to manage complex backup needs involving high end tape libraries, Disk to Disk solutions and remote office backup solutions. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Installation, Management, and administration of Backup Servers (Master & Media Servers) • Manage & monitor backup jobs for various servers on the network and ensure high backup success rates. • Manage Spectra Logic tape library Installation and administration. • Install backup agents on various types operating systems (AiX, Solaris, HP-UX, Windows 2003/2008) • Define backup polices and job schedules to meet business requirements. • Ensure tape requirements are managed regularly & efficiently. • Evaluate overall Backup System Performances & report metrics to management. • Assist in system disaster recovery requirements. • Plan Backup Software upgrades & patch management and evaluate latest technologies in Backup requirements. • Assist SAs & DBAs on various backup needs & strategies. • Ensure SLAs defined for the business are met. • Expected to work in a global team environment and ensure Client processes & procedures are implemented across the globe. • On Call for Production Server Support. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Support other functions of the IT team (DataCenter, Network and Applications) as necessary. • Position requires candidate to carry a cell phone 24/7 and requires maintenance/installation work to be performed outside of business hours. • Position requires candidate to perform global weekend work for Production/Datacenter maintenance as needed. • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent. • Must have 5+ years of overall IT System Administration experience • 3-4 years of hands on experience with Symantec/Veritas backup technologies • Exposure to patch management and upgrades of Symantec/Veritas software a must. • Experience with backup & restore processes of Exchange Servers, Oracle Database and other production infrastructure is a must. • Experience with backup & restore processes for Sharepoint infrastructure is a plus. • Experience with setting up backup jobs using various protocols, including NDMP is a must. • Manage high end tape libraries is a must. Experience with Spectra Logic tape libraries is a plus. • Ability to manage various backup policies and scheduled jobs to ensure successful completion of backup jobs with in the backup Windows. • Good working knowledge on Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. • Exposure to installation requirements on all UNIX flavors is a plus. • Exposure to Symantec PureDisk backup solutions is a plus. • Exposure to Disk 2 Disk backup solutions (esp., Data Domain) is a plus. • Familiarity with VB scripting or Perl scripting is a plus. • Exposure to Open Source backup solutions is a plus. • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with employees and customers at all skill levels; including the ability to translate and communicate technical and analytical issues to all types of end users. • Knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies is a plus. • Ability to work under considerable pressure managing multiple tasks and priorities. • Motivated self-starter personality; must be able to work independently. • Demonstrates the ability to produce high-quality results with attention to details. • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and team communications skills are essential; must be able to clearly document processes, policies, and procedures in a timely basis.
