Position: Lead Sql Server DBA (must be senior with 10 year exp)

Location: South Florida

Duration: 3+ months

Ensures systems integration through data design

Designs, implements and maintains complex databases

Demonstrates expert understanding of database performance tuning, data
backup, recovery and security processes/ procedures



Maintains responsibility for ensuring the integrity and successful recovery
of data



Demonstrates expert knowledge of database design tools and utilities



*Responsibilities *

Supports application development teams by recognizing and evaluating
database issues and implementing solutions. Installs, configures, upgrades,
and maintains all database systems. Ensures database reliability and
performance. Develops and coordinates project plans. Strong knowledge of SQL
Server database administration best practices required.

*Minimum of five years experience designing, tuning, and recovering
application databases. *

Comprehensive knowledge of database technologies.

Fundamental knowledge of operating systems and system development.

Strong written and communication skills.



*Other Information *

General Administration – Comprehensive and practical knowledge of the
following: (Minimum rating of 9-10 on a scale of 10)

• Configure, create, and troubleshoot all SQL Server components such as SQL
Server properties, database properties, table/column properties, SQL Server
agent jobs, DTS packages, database maintenance plans, error logs, alerts,
and security.

• Design, implement, and execute database backup/restore strategy based on
service level requirements.

• Act as gatekeeper on production systems – Review and optimize all database
changes prior to production setup for errors and optimal performance.

• Database objects migration – Transfer and synchronize data records,
triggers, SPs, tables, databases, SQL Server agent jobs, DTS packages, etc.
amongst different SQL Servers promptly and with minimum supervision.

• Installation, upgrade, and patching of Microsoft SQL Server suite of
products (7.0, 2000, 2005, 2008).



*System monitoring – Strong and practical knowledge of the following:
(Minimum rating of 8 on a scale of 10) *

• Performance tuning – Identify performance bottlenecks (i.e. poor written
queries, hardware issues, etc.) and recommend corrective course of action.

• Extensive use of SQL Server tools such as Query Analyzer, Profiler, and
DTS Designer, etc.

• Windows Operating System – Diagnose and troubleshoot OS components that
may impact SQL Server availability, such as memory, CPU, disk space,
security, etc.

• Proficient in using OS tools such as Perf Mon, Computer Management, Event
Viewer, etc.

• Capacity Planning.



*High Availability Solutions – Strong knowledge of the following: (Minimum
rating of 7-8 on a scale of 10) *

• Windows Clustering – Support active/active and active/passive clusters.
Manage cluster resources and troubleshoot errors.

• Create and maintain standby databases and/or log-shipping. Participate in
planning and execution of recovery activities.



*Communication/Personal Skills – Strong demonstration of the following:
(Minimum rating of 8 on a scale of 10) *

• Ability to multi-task under minimum supervision.

• Detail-oriented and good follow-up skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Capable to interface closely with internal/external customers and advice
on database solutions.



*Required Skills: *

5+ years Microsoft SQL Server 7, 2000, 2005, 2008 DBA experience, in a
production environment required.

2+ years Microsoft SQL Server 7, 2000, 2005, 2008 DBA experience with:
Standby Databases and Clustering required.

Strong verbal, written and Project Management skills required.

Strong experience sizing, and administering large enterprise-level databases
in a clustered environment required.

Experience with Microsoft customer support to troubleshoot technical issues
strongly preferred

Proficient development skills (SQL, TSQL, Stored Procedures, and Triggers)
for the purpose of providing development support and application tuning
strongly preferred.
