*Position: Network Operations Technician*

Position Summary

This a 24/7 Network Operations team that is responsible for production
systems health monitoring using System Center Operations manager 2007.  The
team maintains and manages the LyondellBasell environment by providing
technical support, testing, troubleshooting for WAN connectivity incidents
and for Windows environmental issues, and back-up and restore
responsibilities.



Successful candidate must be able to multi-task and prioritize system events
according to severity and escalation procedures.  Candidates must be
comfortable communicating quickly and accurately in the event of production
emergencies, both with internaland external groups.  This individual must
also be comfortable navigating through various application environments and
be actively involved with troubleshooting and/ or resolving production
issues.



*Responsibilities include:*

- Monitoring the health of the LyondellBasell environments (from Dev to
Production) on a 24 / 7 basis on a Windows platform using System Center
Operations

- Escalate production incidents and drive them to resolution via
troubleshooting, communication and subsequent updates

- Incidents are owned from start to finish

- The NOC acts as first level support for production issues by gathering
documenting information for troubleshooting for either direct resolution or
for various maintenance teams for resolution

- The candidate must be flexible with the ability to handle stressful
situations such as initiating incident conference gridge calls, sending
quick and accurate outage notifications, and escalating to various
maintenance managers.

- Communicating between departments, vendors and partners as a central
repository for information regarding production sites

- Understanding of incident scopes and performs tasks that require judgment
and creativity in the application of standard troubleshooting techniques and
methods for resolution

- Creates and updates trouble tickets to ensure accuracy and completeness

- Performs troubleshooting tasks using SCOM or other Network Management
System GUI

- Monitor facility environmental alerts for power and cooling

- Works closely with customers keeping them advised on system status



*Experience:*

- Solid knowledge of software application environments such as Windows, SAP,
ArcServ and HP server support applications

- Solid knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls and servers

- Must have intermediate skills in Windows applications including the use of
a web browser, search clients, Excel, Outlook and Word

- Previous experience with Remedy or ticketing systems a plus

- Must possess good judgment along with common sense and organizational
skills

- Must be able to organize and prioritize issues and work methodically and
logically towards resolution

- Ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a 24/7 team



*Education:*

- Associates degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

- CCNA or CCND or higher level certificate

- A+ certification or knoweldge demonstrated



Total years of experience:  5 - 7 years
