South Florida Water Management District's (District) Information Technology (IT) Department requires a Senior Application Developer to provide development support to the Applications Development Division's Architecture Section.
Duration: 20 months contract Location: South Florida Water Management District in West Palm Beach, Florida CANDIDATES MUST BE US CITIZENS/GREEN CARD HOLDERS AND MUST BE LOCAL CANDIDATES! The Contractor will be involved in the entire SDLC and is responsible for adhering to the District's programming and CMMi process standards. The specific activities include: Performing SDLC development activities includes, but is not limited to, the following activities: . Providing expert judgment in activity definition, sequencing, and effort/duration estimating . Create service specification and API document and conduct review sessions . Code and unit test services . Adhere to all District configuration management standards and plans . Participate in code review and incorporate review findings . Participate in system and user acceptance testing . Correct all defects identified during testing . Build and deploy services The consultant providing this service must have at least 5 years of IT application development work experience. - Required Technical Skills: . Three (3) years of current experience developing services (SOAP based as well as RESTFUL) using Java and XML . Strong understanding of SOA and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). Working experience with any popular open source ESB is preferred. . Five (5) years of current experience developing with JavaScript, Java EE 5 and 6 with experience in the following tools: Hibernate (V3), JDBC, Struts (V 1.2.9 and 2.0) . Strong working knowledge in Oracle database version 10g and higher Required Non-Technical Skills: . The ability to create specifications and API documents . Must have strong problem solving skills and creating solutions for very complex issues . The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing, to a wide variety of staff and management levels. . The ability to convey written thoughts in clear and concise English grammar. . The contractor should have at a minimum a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. An advanced degree is a plus Desired Skills: .
