The Senior Software Engineer will have a key role in redesigning the
intranet to create a more useful and usable platform for organizational and
business information, productivity tools and applications, benefits
administration and employee self-service, and for collaboration between
teams, departments, and divisions. This position requires .NET/SharePoint
expertise.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Specifies designs, implements, tests and supports software for the Intranet
system. Updates and develops software and provides customer support.
Provides technical leadership in primary areas of competence, and task
management and project leadership support.
Assist Product and Project Management in initial planning by developing a
thorough understanding of the problem domain (utilizing inception and
elaboration artifacts) and effectively aligning it with the software
engineering domain to produce an architectural, software, and resource
assessment for project success.
Manage the assignment and coordination of technical activities and the
delivery of technical artifacts throughout the project, utilizing
appropriate tools and protocols to effectively communicate this information
to the Project Manager, the Architects, and the software development support
services.
Develops increasing expertise in key software development and system
implementation technologies. Develops experience and expertise in problem
definition, requirements analysis and the general design of systems.
Assist in maintaining all system administration, development and support
documentation, including current product level release notes.
Assists with the planning, requirement analysis, and testing of all system
patches and upgrades.
Supports production issues and activities, as necessary, by researching,
analyzing issues, and identifying and/or delivering solutions.
Implement the features as stated in the Requirements Specification
Work together with our vendor partner as needed in the implementation of
these requirements
Integrate the new Intranet system with corporate systems such as Lawson,
Active Directory, Outlook, etc.
Facilitate content management for the new Intranet system
Develop collaboration platforms such as IM, Liferay, Chatter, etc.
Working closely with the Intranet Site Manager:
Define and implement enhancements based on observation, metrics, requests
from staff, and other inputs
Plan and manage future point releases and major releases
Listen to users participate in usability studies, surveys, other feature and
functionality elicitation exercises
Monitor site traffic and publish metrics and related status reports
Point of contact for day-to-day issues related to the intranet
Develop ways to increase usage and achieve other project measures of success

Required Skills:* Education/Experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or a related subject, plus additional
related college courses or professional training and minimum of five years
of progressively responsible directly-related experience.

Related Skills and Other Requirements
Strong and evolving competence using ASP .NET technology
Experience with Sharepoint development required
SQL Server knowledge preferred
HTML/jQuery/CSS/Webparts/web services knowledge are a plus
Familiarity with Rational Tool Set
Knowledge of systems analysis and design (including OOAD and UML), and
database design
Knowledge of software development lifecycle and modern software engineering
principles and practices
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all levels
and areas within and outside the organization, including internal business
stakeholders and sponsors, customers and vendors.
Ability to focus on the goals of quality, time and budget
Ability to work independently
Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments simultaneously and
effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Strong problem solving and analytic skills
Customer service orientation
