Job Description

 

Reporting to the Business Solutions Team lead, the Business Analyst is a
critical member of the McGraw-Hill Education Global Technology Solutions
(GTS) team.  The GTS team is responsible for the key operations and
functions of all critical back-office applications that support McGraw-Hill
Education business operations.  Functional areas include Inventory Planning,
Manufacturing, Customer Service and Order Management.  The Customer Service
& Order Management, Supply Chain and Finance teams are structured with Team
Leads having oversight for Architects, Business Analysts, and both onshore
and offshore Developers within these respective functional areas.  Primary
responsibilities of these groups include the integration and functional
operations of all back-office application modules.  Primary responsibilities
of this role will be to support Supply Chain operations, but may extend to
other functions as needed.  

 

We are currently looking for a resource to support our Permissions
Compliance System project.  This project entails implementing a single
Rights Management business process and eliminating 8 separate applications
used currently to track rights management.  The new system will provide
detail tracking of permissions usage thus protecting the company against
litigation resulting from violation of usage contracts. Better visibility to
permissions data will minimize duplicate purchasing of permissions and thus
reducing costs.  

 

 

 

Essential Duties

*       Conducts reviews and analysis of business and information technology
processes and solicits client requirements through interviews, workshops
and/or existing systems documentation or procedures.
*       Identifies customer requirements, writes functional designs, reviews
technical designs, develops test schedules, reviews testing plans and tracks
and documents the development and results of these plans. 
*       Evaluates business requirements for enterprise business applications
integration and service activation, while delivering new or modified
software systems enhancements and/or integrated solutions. 
*       Participates in the definition, testing, training, implementation,
and support of system requirements. 
*       Alerts project managers to potential risks and issues of importance.


Additional Responsibilities 

*       Relationship Management

*       Actively network within the McGraw-Hill community to address stated
business needs as well as proactively identify long- and short-term
solutions, systematic and procedural, to improve the operating efficiencies
of McGraw-Hill's customer service and order management functions. 
*       Work actively with the end-users of the pre-publication application
toolset, and other professionals in the business units and corporate groups,
as well as technology personnel in corporate departments, the Education
business segment technology group (GTS), and onshore and offshore
development resources.

*       Process Analysis

*       Detailed analysis of processes and workflows with suggestions for
improvement.
*       Identify areas where technology can lead to increased efficiency and
productivity. 

*       Technology Analysis

*       Understand the functions provided by the current systems. 
*       Understand and accommodate the requirement constraints imposed by
the current systems. 

*       Requirements Analysis

*       Detailed analysis resulting in clear, concise and unambiguous system
requirements.
*       Document detailed use cases that cover all alternate and exception
flows.
*       Supplement use cases with real world scenarios.
*       Document functional requirements for business approval

*       Testing 

*       Work with the offshore team on the planning, assembly testing,
requirements documentation, and User Acceptance Testing of Oracle upgrades
*       Create and/or Review test cases to ensure that they are aligned with
the functional requirements.
*       Validate that requirements are met with the delivered system.
*       Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT). 

*       Training (supplemental role)

*       Provide user documentation for the system.
*       Setup curriculum and provide classes for user training.

Qualifications

 

The position calls for an individual with at least 4 years professional
experience. The successful candidate must have a demonstrable track record
of defining systems that lead to increased efficiency and productivity
through the use of technology. Solid Oracle e-business experience and a
background in the educational publishing field are desirable.  Degree in
Management Information Systems / Computer Science (or equivalent) is
preferred.

facilitation / organizational skills.

*       Display initiative and self motivation.

development lifecycle.
