*Position : Data Center Engineer* *Location : DURHAM, North Carolina*
*Duration : 6 months * *Hourly rate : $40/hr * Our client has an immediate need for a Data Center Engineer responsible for platform integration and design activities for RTP lab/data center facilities: Assist in integrating demonstration content to the Demo Automation System (Quest/Surgient). Assist in maintenance of the Demo Automation system, including HW and SW configuration of complex automation activities. Creation of documentation and processes related to VM and Appliance automation systems. Assist in providing 24x7 data center availability Assist in enforcing change management process Assist in implementing and maintaining backups and disaster recovery procedures Provide 3rd level support with incidents/cases related to data center availability Build, maintain, repair, replace ESX and windows based servers Maintain lab inventory, efficiency and cleanliness Assist in the removal of unneeded items (repot depot, scrap, etc) Maintain lab safety and compliance: ESD compliance, lab safety laws and industry procedures, conformity to ISO standards Technical expertise in all or some of the following is required: Overall Data Center and Virtualization Technology, specifically VMWare, DC Networking, Computing Resources and SANs. Familiarity with network equipment installation: networking topologies, media, and protocols Basic network implementation and troubleshooting skills Familiarity and experience in large project documentation In-depth project planning and execution experience. Hands-on experience with business continuity, backup and archiving methodologies and software CCNA/CCNP and/or VMware experience preferred Experience and capabilities of ideal candidate: Prior experience in system and lab and/or data center administration Basic networking skills. Knowledge is required in the areas of monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting. Demonstrate experience with networking technology as well as knowledge of Cisco products and solutions Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills are required.
