Java Web Services Developer for Service Oriented Architecture Job Description
Work as part of a small project team with individual responsibility within the full SDLC as part of the enterprise middleware department. Cutting-edge client deploys regularly scheduled ‘Enterprise Releases’ of central SOA services, combining upgrades to both the SOA and its enterprise applications. Multiple business and IT initiatives drive the projects delivered with each Enterprise Release. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly integrate into a project for the duration of the release SDLC. He or she will be working closely with team members, project leads, systems analyst(s) and project sponsors to deliver the designed services. Candidate will be responsible for delivering tech specs, code, and unit tests and may be assigned to more than one project at a time.
IDEAL SKILL PROFILE
developed?h Has personally developed web services (not just client-side code)
?h Working knowledge from personal experience of SOAP/WSDL/XSD/XML/XSLT standards and tools.
?h Excellent Oral and Written communications skills
?h Excellent Java skills, 3+ years experience
?h Proven ability to work independently, reporting progress/issues in a timely manner
group?h Willingness to mentor more junior members of the
?h Experience with Oracle/Sun/SeeBeyond ICAN or JCAPS integration environment.
ACCEPTABLE SKILL PROFILE
ICAN is an older technology with few practitioners. The client is quite willing to consider candidates with no ICAN experience but who have experience with at least one other integration package (e.g. Oracle Fusion, Websphere Integration Developer, WebLogic, Webmethods).
HIGHLY DESIRED
Client is migrating much of their Web services work to an XSLT framework and is looking for candidates who have used XSLT to transform XML documents.
Client may consider a candidate that has no direct web services development experience if the candidate is strong in other areas, including Java development and can demonstrate clear proficiency with XSLT.
OTHER TOOLS OF NOTE
The client uses SOATest, JUnit, JMeter, RESTful services, JMS, subversion, Hudson, Ant, XMLSpy, TOAD, JDBC, and Oracle RDBMs as part of the development environment and experience in these tools is desirable but not essential as long as the candidate has experience with similar tools in these areas.
Experience with J2EE, RMI, JAXB, Spring, Hibernate and related Java standards in a candidate’s resume indicates experience whose principals may have transfer value in the client’s environment and usage somewhere in the enterprise but which are unlikely to be used in the candidate’s current position.
The client’s Enterprise Integration group has no development responsibility for any of the company’s front end web based applications. HTML, AJAX, JSON, CSS and other front end technologies are not skills sought in the group. The client’s current development and deployment environment is based on Windows servers. UNIX/Linux command line and scripting are not needed in the current environment.
