I'm saying the default should be privacy, and you have to opt in to not
respecting privacy as a conscious choice. Which I think the suggestion of
having a cron to delete it after x days, is a workable compromise.

The system does of course have to enforce it, but I agree with you that if a
library wants to opt out of respecting privacy, they can do that by turning on
the system preference.
