            Bug ID: 15003
Summary: Help should be a wiki, not translatable via po-files
 Change sponsored?: ---
           Product: Koha
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P5 - low
         Component: Staff Client
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
        QA Contact: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]

[Note: This is brainstorming based on feedback from Vaarakirjastot]

Po-files split the help pages into sentences, or worse, into sentence
fragments.
This makes translating them into fluent language nearly impossible, because
they
are text articles and direct sentence translation makes bad prose.

Each help page should be a single translatable element.

As the help pages are already sort-of like wiki, and editable in Koha itself,
it would make sense to package the actual help pages for each language
separately, which could then be installed (either in Koha itself, or by
external means).

And/Or perhaps there could be a syspref to use external URL instead of
local help, with some substitutions for language, Koha version, and
the help article. For example, setting the syspref value to
"http://help.koha-community.org/wiki/${lang}/${version}/${article}";
would open that page on a wiki set up there.
