There seems to be a problem with the sandbox that prevents the datepicker from showing the correct date format which is selected in the system preferences and this makes the calendar unusable. If you wish to proceed on testing, you will have to change the system preference dateformat to mm/dd/yyyy, it seems like it's the only option that works for now.
