            Bug ID: 28894
Summary: Boost search results by date published, acquisition
                    date or latest edition
 Change sponsored?: ---
           Product: Koha
           Version: master
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P5 - low
         Component: Searching - Elasticsearch
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

It would be great if there was an option in the Elasticsearch configuration to
boost results so that 'new' material appeared towards the top.

I can imagine a library might want to do this based on three possible criteria:

1. items new to the collection could be boosted higher in the results list
2. items published more recently should be boosted higher in results e.g if two
books share the same title, the more recent one should come higher in the
results list
3. the latest edition of a book should be boosted higher than previous editions
in results e.g. the 7th edition of "Learning Perl" should come higher than the
first edition.
