I've already done a lot of this work locally, but it's unpolished, and there's not enough... incentive(?) to upstream it at the moment. But that's really the key. Refactoring checkauth() so that we can create a session with a function call would be great. Then we call leave up the actual authentication to the caller. One day I'll have all the time and money in the world to bring pluggable authentication to Koha hehe.
