I tested this on the master branch and received the hard due date for both
items. Was the patch for this bug ever applied on the sandbox? If the rules
were created when the patch was applied, that would explain your results.

You can try deleting the teacher rules and adding them again. You can also try
testing it on another sandbox without any patches.
