The point was I'm looking for a way to pass 'null' to the API so I can get
'WHERE resolved_date IS NULL' in the query.. I'm not sure how a hidden column
will achieve that.

Having said that.. the client side of this seems to send exactly the same as
where I have this live and working for a customer.. so it would appear it's the
API that's changed.

I do have a minor improvement to my special:undefined fix (for working with
multiple fields in a single column.. I didn't spot that until today).. but that
doesn't resolve the underlying functionality issue :(
