I think this might be caused by Bug 28314
To recreate:
1. Enable LocalCoverimages
2. Do a catalog search that will return a couple of results (in sandbox, I
searched for Shakespeare)
--> All results have "No cover image available" (this is normal so far)
3. Go into the first record
4. Add a cover image
--> The cover image appears in the record details page
5. Redo the search from step 2
--> All results have "No cover image available"; the first result should have a
cover image
