The language(s) of a document are only visible when there is a value in the 041
field. Since this field is intended for multilingual/translated/etc. resources,
and for other/unilingual resources the language information is typically just
encoded in 008_35-37, the language of a document is often not displayed on
OPAC.
The language field shown in the bibliographic record preview (on the search
results page) and in the detailed bibliographic record should instead display:
041$a
008_35-37 (if there is no value in 041)
This should apply to both the OPAC and the intranet.
