I commented here, Tomas was not even aware of this bug. It's a problem of communication and now that there is code already there is pressure for it to be included as a lot of work went into it. I would have preferred to have some discussion beforehand. As pointed out before, the data itself is even for big consortia not enough to really impress the DBMS, so there is probably something weird we are doing in our queries or data structure. The other thing is that we would have to support 2 parallel patron search systems forever if this goes in.
