Once bugs 43128 and 43129 have landed and the new Vue holds interface has full
functional parity with reserve/request.pl (including the full existing Cypress
suite passing against it), flip the UseNewHoldsInterface system preference's
default value to Yes and mark reserve/request.pl as deprecated in the
documentation, while keeping it fully functional as a fallback.
- Update all internal links (detail.pl, circulation pages, patron pages, etc)
to point at the new interface when the preference is enabled.
- Add a redirect from reserve/request.pl's query parameters to the equivalent
Vue route when the preference is enabled, so existing bookmarks and
integrations continue to work.
- Document the migration for sites carrying local customisations to
reserve/request.pl or js/holds.js.
- Add basic structured logging of query counts in the new availability classes
and a simple latency note for hold placement, so regressions can be caught
after rollout.
reserve/request.pl is not removed in this bug. It remains available for sites
that disable UseNewHoldsInterface.
Test plan
1. Confirm a fresh install defaults to UseNewHoldsInterface enabled and Place
hold links route to the new interface.
2. Confirm disabling the preference restores reserve/request.pl as the active
interface with no loss of function.
3. Follow at least one old style reserve/request.pl bookmarked URL with the
preference enabled and confirm it redirects correctly to the new interface.
4. Confirm the full existing hold placement Cypress suite passes against the
new interface.
