For libraries using the reservoir I think the fuller search of catalog + reservoir after finishing an item is the right workflow. We don't use the reservoir much, but personally I appreciate that the "cataloging search" no-results screen offers links to the "Advanced Editor" and "New record", which is where I want to go next after finishing an item on my cataloging cart, searching the next one in our system to confirm we don't have a record, and then getting to my cataloging business.
