--- Comment #4 from Laura Escamilla <[email protected]> --- I've updated Bug 40898 to address the failed QA feedback. `PatronSearchMaxSortColumns` now defaults to blank (unlimited), so existing patron searches that sort by 12 fields will continue working without any changes to their current behavior. The API only enforces the sorting limit when the preference contains a positive integer. I've also added tests for the blank/unlimited behavior, and all 19 sorting-limit assertions pass. I initially considered updating the staff patron search to use the first N sorting fields based on the preference, but I think your original suggestion of handling that separately makes sense. It would allow us to optimize the existing 12-column sorting behavior without expanding the scope of this bug.
