Oftentimes, the staff person will scan an item that is on hold, stop to
put on a sticker, and then go on to scan the next item without selecting
confirm. We get distracted, the phone rings, a customer asks a question,
we aren't paying attention... Also there are many times that I walk up
to an unmanned computer and I see a message like the one below. If
someone uses that workstation without confirming, then the hold shows as
"available".
Proposal:
To add a systempreference, AutoHoldConfirm, that if on, will automatically mark
holds as waiting at checkin. If they are on hold at the branch they are being
checked in at.
This should have no change in behaviour at all without this systempreference
being enabled.
