AdvancedSearchTypes should not be extended this way. There is nothing in the name of the system preference to indicate that a *search* setting should affect *display*, and there is interest in extending the syspref so that *multiple* search limit groups can be selected, which would break the new semantics you are trying to apply. The change should simply be to display both item type and collection, and allow the library to adjust the template if they don't want to display both.
