We are having difficulty with Irish Gaelic - the accents are getting mangled in z39.50 downloads. Or in some cases it won't work at all because of the accents. Are there particular settings I should check?
The same titles at the Library of Congress and the National Library of Ireland (both set to MARC 8) look strange on the screen. There are extra letters in front of the accented letters. I contacted a colleague at LC who said these extra letters do not display on their end. UTF-8 produces little question marks where the accents should be, and brings up an error message saying: utf 8 "\xD6" does not map to Unicode Which makes me wonder if some of this is due to a browser setting?
