Is there a way that Koha matching rules will match the book records by ISBN if
nine of the numbers match in order (ie - the middle)? Is there a way for it to
do this?

Hi David,

I don't know how to fix it, but I do know that you can't change an ISBN-10 into
an ISBN-13 just by adding 978 in front of it. The check digit at the end of the
ISBN changes as well.

There are various converter programs on the web, which take into account the
check digit change as well. The easiest is at
http://www.isbn.org/converterpub.asp, but if you need the actual calculations
behind the conversion, you'll need to do some research.

Hope this helps at least a bit,

Subject: [Koha] When importing records, question about matching rule

When importing records, my matching rule works when ISBN matches identically in
both records .. so ... I need to modify my ISBN matching rule so that it
matches books that MAY have the prefix 978 in front of the ISBN.

Does anyone know how to modify the matching rule so that 978MATCH and MATCH
will match?

My current rule is

Tag 020 (ISBN)
Subfield a
Offset 3 ( I tried 3 so it would ignore the 978 but this did not
work)
Length 0

Normalization rule : blank

Happy Holidays everyone!!!
