Hi All, Here's the deal:
We are currently running Koha 3.0 on Debian 4.0.1 served to various buildings via Fiber Channel on our LAN. The first problem is a lag in search and query functions performed by several of our librarians located in a building across the street. The problem seems to be localised to them, and I see no identifiable issues with the network itself, of their exterior Internet connection - browsing outside of Koha is snappy and "normal". I want to assume that this problem is purely a physical connection issue with the fiber channel of the switches, but I wanted to explore other possibilities that it might be something else specific to Koha. I'm new to administering Koha, though I've used it for queries and searched for two years. The second problem is a possible result of a Global Update that was performed just before I started at this position. After the update several catalogue entries literally "went missing" when searches were performed, only to turn up gradually over the course of three days. there are also several duplicated entries, fully functional and searchable via MARC,etc.. All of the errors to records seem to have occurred to the records that were being entered into Koha during the actual time period of the Global Update, and don't appear to be propagating across the database. Could this simply be fixed by updating the MARC records and initiate index updates? I can try things out in a sandbox environment if I need to, but I'm being very careful so not to amplify a small problem into something that might take our OPAC down for a full day or two. In my opinion our copy of Koha is stable and usable, but I'd like to come up with a solution as fast as I can to eliminate the duplicates. Ideas? Thanks _______________________________________________ Koha mailing list http://koha-community.org [email protected] http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha
