Your error message is unrelated to your indexing problem. Your error message
is related to Bug 8175, for which there is a patch that has not passed QA
yet.
First: is zebra even running?
$ ps aux | grep zebra
Second: Have you tried a rebuild_zebra_sliced.sh? or the script from bug
6566?
Those are the ideas that come to my mind.
