Isn't it easy to just export your database in 3.8, install kpha debian package , import the database and run koha web installer? Koha web installer will check database tables and adjust accordingly (?) From thereon, upgrade will be a breeze with just running a few scripts. That's what i did with ours. If there are errors, just google the errors and if you're having difficulties, just ask the koha community. Regards.
