Thanks, I'll try the various suggestions. I actually did the copy and paste in Koha. . . no text editor to blame. But there's the weirdness that goes on between a Mac and a PC (I use both on the same machine with VMware), and might possibly have copied from one to paste in the other. . . Sometimes I have so many windows open I forget where I am.
I'm sure the extra ExtractValue(b.marcxml didn't help!
