I fully support the creation of a structure that will be able to receive, manage, and allocate funds in a transparent and impartial manner -- and that is accountable to the community and professionally audited. This would require a governing structure to set priorities and allocate funds and an independent non-profit to receive funds and manage these. It makes sense to me that the Horowhenua Library Trust, as the original non-profit institution that launched Koha in 1999, be the first institution to serve in this function.
It is essential that Koha continues to grow and to improve. I would see such a development as a necessary step to ensure long term viability. All libraries that use Koha have an interest in and responsibility to contribute to its ongoing development and stability--such a development would provide the structure for a concerted effort.
