According to the man page of C4::Biblio (

biblioitems.marcxml". So, it looks like I should be OK with editing the
marcxml data only, but wanted to double-check with someone from this
mailing list who knows more about koha than I do.
It is possible for rebuild_zebra.pl to be run in a mode where it uses
the marc column rather than the marcxml column when indexing bibs, so
to avoid the possibility of discrepancies in indexing, you should
update the marc column after making changes to the MARCXML.
Outside from this reason, I think the biblioitems.marc field
can/could/should be removed.
