If the pain is great, we may be able to argue for an Ubuntu installation (Debian is less likely). Oracle Linux is another alternative that may be available, FWIW.

I appreciate and thank you in advance for any advice you may have. I am doing a good amount of research on the web to try to answer my own questions, but I'm a bit out of my league.
