Hello dear Koha community,

While some of us are preparing to gather in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand this November for KohaCon25 (https://2025.kohacon.org/), it is also time to look ahead to KohaCon26.

The bidding period closed on 28 March 2025, with two strong proposals submitted. To let the community decide, a vote was organized on Mattermost (https://chat.koha-community.org/koha-community/pl/drrwyk6xxpydxxna4qbte8sj4o), which remained open until 12 September 2025 at 23:59 UTC.

The results were as follows (https://chat.koha-community.org/koha-community/pl/9rchhhc7hfrtdq8ruxknau7qbo):

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany: 126 votes

Cyprus University of Technology Library, Cyprus: 21 votes

On behalf of the community, I want to sincerely thank both institutions for their enthusiastic bids. Hosting an international conference is a major commitment and a huge contribution to Koha. The fact that more than one institution stepped forward shows the value the community places on KohaCon as a place for us to share knowledge, collaborate, and strengthen our community.

Please join me in congratulating KIT on being selected as the host of KohaCon26. The next updates will come from the KIT team as they begin planning the event. They will share news with you as it becomes available.

I look forward to seeing many of you in Karlsruhe, Germany in 2026!

Warm regards,

Caroline Cyr La Rose
