Sometimes it is easy to get around procedure. Well, STOP IT! Seriously though, you're in a hurry, and you want to help patrons quickly, and quality sometimes takes a backseat. It is easy to take the simpler route if the opportunity presents itself, and with patron renewals, that can happen, especially when you have procedures that require you to quality check patron information with custom validation or adding some unique information at the time of renewal.
