Wow, the proposal is really impressive ! And it is available in 5 languages, including Maori !

I see one problem though. The venue capacity : a very tiny 4200 seats. That's too small !!! (PS: kidding :D )

Very excited by this choice !

Hello dear Koha community,

I am pleased to announce that KohaCon27 will be held in Istanbul, Türkiye,
hosted by the Republic of Türkiye – Ministry of Culture and Tourism,
Directorate General for Libraries and Publications, at Rami Library.

The bidding period closed on 15 March 2026 with one proposal submitted. As the
sole eligible bid, no vote was required.

Türkiye is one of the most significant Koha countries in the world. Over 1300
public libraries operate Koha as part of a centrally managed national
infrastructure. The community there has long been a quiet but substantial force
in the ecosystem, and it is wonderful to see that translate into hosting the
global conference.

Thank you to the team at the Directorate General for Libraries and Publications
for putting together a strong proposal and for taking on the considerable work
of organizing KohaCon. Further updates will come directly from them as planning
gets underway.

More details, including the proposal website, can be found
at:https://kohacon27.ktb.gov.tr/

I hope to see many of you in Istanbul in 2027!

Warm regards,

Paul Derscheid
