Friends, You must have come to know about the Common University Act brought to our notice through the newspapers. University suffocating all academic endeavour.Let this election be a battle to safeguard the autonomy of the University in order to save M.S.University - its glory and tradition. Ironically though the Act has been passed in the state cabinet those associated with the University including the Vice Chancellor have not actually seen the Act leave alone study it. The Government is bent upon implementing without feeling the necessity of a debate, discussion and consensus. Right from the genesis of M.S. University Autonomy has been proved to be a pre-requisite for institutes of excellence. The Common University Act is an attack on the democratic autonomy of M.S. University. The few democratic rights, which remain like the students'election, staff association, will get curtailed with the implementation of the Common University Act. The need of the hour is to save M.S.
