A few days ago I called into a radio talk program and said the
following:
"I recently saw Sean Hannity, a far right-wing radio talk show
mouthpiece, on TV pointing to a map of the United States and saying,
'Look at all the red on that map which proves Bush is the winner.' [The
states given to Kerry were colored blue and those given to Bush were
red]. I said to myself, "What a stup... comment. Those are nothing but
land masses. Land does not vote, people do. When is the last time your
backyard voted? If he wants an accurate map reflecting what is really
happening he should go to a demographic map which are common in atlases
and reflect where people live. They would reduce states like Montana,
Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, and Nevada down to the size of your thumbnail and
the states of California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New York would be huge."
He should go to one that can be found at:
http://www.census.gov/dmd/www/pdf/912ch1.pdf
and color the states red and blue. That should change his perspective
dramatically.
for the cause,
Klo
