Summary: support for language-specific behaviour (spell-checker,
                    away messages)
           Product: kopete
           Version: 0.11.1
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kopete-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: christian.corona gmx net

Version: 0.11.1 (using KDE 3.5.1, Kubuntu Package
4:3.5.1-0ubuntu0breezy1 )
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-10-386

I chat with contacts in 3 different languages and it is annoying sometimes that
certain behaviour of Kopete assumes all contacts speak the default language.

For example, the spell-checker only checks the default language, resulting in
99% red text when chatting with foreign contacts.

Also, the "Now Playing..."-plugin sends "Unbekanntes Stück" ("Unknown Track" in
german) if a track is untagged, which is confusing for my non-german friends.
I'm not sure, but other plugins might have this problem, too.

And finally, I always hesitate to use away-messages because I'd rather have
them in different languages for each group of contacts.

What I am proposing is a "conversation language" property for each contact
(similar to the "preferred language" property that is used by the translation
plugin), that triggers certain events:

* all plugins that send messages to the contact or depend on the language of
the typed text adapt to the conversation language of the current contact

* the spell-checker will automatically check the typed messages in the right
language

* away messages are sent to the respective users in the right languages (this
requires the ability to enter away messages in multiple languages of course)

There are probably other uses of this, too, maybe people will add some useful
comments and suggestions.
I guess it is probably a pretty extensive change, but it would open up lots of
possibilities and would set Kopete apart from all the other messengers even
more.

P.S.: I love Kopete. :)
