Great, I started this a couple of years ago when I first wrote KIMProxy, but never got the applet to a mature state. The kuick konqueror plugin, and the kmail and kaddressbook integration, are the only KIMProxy clients apart from a couple of 3rd party karamba-type widgets. http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/kdenonbeta/kimproxy/applet/ > For now I am using KIMProxy in the plugins which add IM services to the > system. But I think special Kopete plugins could do a lot better. This is the intention of splitting up Kopete into a backend and frontend using something like Decibel (Tapioca+Telepathy, sounds like a recipe for muddy though ;) > I will not have much time the next few weeks, so please be patient with > answers from me. I heard about telepathy & co. but that's it. Could > anyone give some pointers what the state is? Decibel porting is on my TODO but I don't have a date for this. This will turn the backend into a DBus service so applets, PIM, and every other apps can make use of it without a Kopete UI visible on the desktop. It's great to have another developer interested in this area :).
