I tested it.
I don't like the sidebar personally, but as long as it is optional, the
sidebar is fine for me because some people my like it.
The side bar would also allow plugin to put their widget:
KopeteView::addDockWidget(QDockWidget*)
That way a video plugin could add his widget easily.
I think that the new Qt MDI which is now in qt-copy stuff could be fine.
I haven't been able to test it because the chatwindow crash before to appears
here. the backtrace show only Qt symbols (QPixmap, QResource, QList)
