I like the way how it's done in Coccinella:
* query button in the join chatroom dialog
* In the Disco tabblad, you can click on + to expand the tree, the server of
your account is opened by default, you then can click on the + of the
conference component, it then lists all available chatrooms with the number of
participants between brackets behind it, if you click on the + of a chatroom,
it will show all participants of that chatroom (in case it is a public chatroom
of course).
